Patna: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar has entered its final week with 94.68% of electors already covered. With just 7 days left, officials and political parties are making a final push to reach every voter.
As of June 24, 2025, Bihar has 7.89 crore registered electors. Over 7.11 crore enumeration forms have been collected, covering 90.12% of electors. Out of these, 6.85 crore forms have been digitised.
However, around 36.86 lakh electors were not found at their registered addresses. These include:
- 12.71 lakh who are probably deceased
- 18.16 lakh who may have permanently shifted
- 5.92 lakh found enrolled in multiple places
- 6,978 who are completely untraceable
- Despite this, a total of 7.48 crore electors have been verified and covered. That’s nearly 95% of the voter base.
To ensure no one is left out, the Election Commission is sharing lists of unverified voters with political parties and their 1.5 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs). Each BLA is allowed to verify and submit up to 50 forms daily until July 25, 2025.
What Happens Next?
On August 1, 2025, the Draft Electoral Roll will be published.
One full month will be provided for claims and corrections by electors and political parties.
Both printed and digital copies of the draft will be given to political parties and made available on the ECI website.
The Final Electoral Roll will be published on September 30, 2025, after disposing of all objections.
Any voter unhappy with decisions can appeal to the District Magistrate or CEO, as per Section 24 of the Representation of People Act, 1950.
The Election Commission has assured that no eligible voter will be left out of the electoral roll.
