Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday praised the Union Budget 2025-26, calling it a “positive” and development-oriented financial plan that will accelerate the state’s progress.
Kumar, whose party JD(U) is a key ally in the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for addressing key concerns of Bihar in the budget.
In his statement, the longest-serving CM highlighted the proposal to set up a “Makhana Board”, which he said would greatly benefit the cultivation and trade of foxnuts—a product Bihar is widely known for. He also welcomed the announcement of new greenfield airports, emphasizing that better air connectivity would significantly contribute to the state’s economic development.
The budget, he added, reflects the Centre’s commitment to fostering Bihar’s growth and strengthening its infrastructure, agriculture, and trade sectors.
