ECI Challenges Rahul Gandhi to Prove Allegations or Apologise

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a strong statement on the recent allegations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The poll body has said that Gandhi must submit a mandatory declaration in the prescribed format. This is as per the rules.

The ECI said if Rahul Gandhi believes his allegations are true, there should be no hesitation in signing the declaration.

It added that refusing to submit it would mean Gandhi does not stand by his own claims.

In that case, the ECI said, the only responsible step would be to withdraw the allegations and offer an unconditional apology to the people of India.

“The choice is entirely with Shri Rahul Gandhi,” the ECI said. “Either follow the legal process or accept fault and apologise to the nation.”
