Tirumala: In a remarkable act of devotion, Chennai-based philanthropist Vardhaman Jain has donated Rs 6 crore to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The generous contribution was handed over on Sunday at the Ranganayakula Mandapam within the sacred Tirumala temple, in the presence of TTD Additional Executive Officer Venkayya Choudary.
Of the total donation, Rs 5 crore has been allocated to the Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC), a television network dedicated to promoting Hindu religious and devotional content. The remaining Rs 1 crore has been contributed to the SV Gosamrakshana Trust, which works towards the protection and welfare of cows, considered sacred in Hinduism.
This is not the first time Jain has made a significant contribution to TTD. The temple authorities, in a press release, acknowledged his past donations to various trusts under the TTD umbrella.
Meanwhile, TTD has been in the spotlight due to the Centre’s recent decision to withdraw a planned field investigation into two incidents that occurred at Tirumala. The inquiry was initially set to probe the stampede-like situation in Tirupati on January 8 and a fire accident at the Tirumala laddu counter on January 13. However, following widespread opposition, the Centre decided to cancel the on-site probe, which was to be led by Additional Secretary Sanjeev Kumar Jindal.
Despite these developments, devotees continue to express their unwavering faith through acts of generosity, with Jain’s latest contribution serving as a testament to the enduring spiritual and cultural significance of Tirumala.
