Washington D.C.: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump held bilateral talks at the White House on Thursday. They announced a new vision for India-US relations, calling it a ‘Mega Partnership for Prosperity.’
PM Modi introduced the phrase ‘Make India Great Again’ (MIGA), inspired by Trump’s slogan, ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA). He said that when MAGA and MIGA come together, it creates a powerful partnership.
The two leaders set a target to increase bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030. They also discussed strengthening cooperation in energy, nuclear technology, and defense.
Modi emphasized that India and the US will work together on joint development, production, and technology transfer. The two countries will also boost trade in oil and gas to ensure India’s energy security.
The Indian Prime Minister confirmed that both sides are working on a “mutually beneficial trade agreement.”
The talks took place on the same day that President Trump announced new reciprocal tariffs on all countries, including India.
PM Modi also met billionaire Elon Musk during his visit. He is expected to discuss the concerns of Indians migrating to the US on H1B visas.
This meeting marks an important step in strengthening India-US relations and boosting economic cooperation.
