New Delhi: The Indian Army has signed a contract to acquire 212 next-generation 50-ton tank transporter trailers. The deal, worth ₹223.95 crore, was inked on August 1, 2025, with M/s Axiscades Aerospace and Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
The contract falls under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category. It supports the government’s ‘Aatmnirbhar Bharat’ vision by promoting indigenous defence manufacturing.
These trailers are built with cutting-edge features. They include hydraulic and pneumatic loading ramps. They also have steerable and liftable axles. These features allow easy and efficient transportation of tanks and armoured vehicles, even on difficult terrain.
This new capability will enhance the Indian Army’s operational mobility. It will improve logistics and provide a strong edge in field operations. The trailers act as force multipliers by ensuring rapid and safe movement of heavy military equipment.
The move is also expected to create local jobs and boost the Indian defence sector. It shows the Army’s continued focus on self-reliance and future readiness.
This development highlights a major push towards modernisation and indigenous capability-building in India’s defence forces.
