Washington, D.C.: Former U.S. President Donald Trump praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “much tougher negotiator” than himself. The remarks came after discussions on trade deals and tariffs between the two nations.
Trump acknowledged Modi’s strong negotiation skills. “He is a much better negotiator than me. There is not even a contest,” Trump said.
The two leaders spoke briefly to the media before engaging in crucial trade talks. Trump also announced that the U.S. and India will soon finalize a trade agreement.
“We are going to work with India. We have separate big trade deals to announce in the near future,” Trump stated.
However, Trump pointed out challenges in doing business with India. He said India imposes some of the highest tariffs in the world, making it a tough place for American businesses.
Despite these challenges, Trump assured that his administration was working on “wonderful trade deals” for both nations.
