New Delhi: Travel vlogger Jyoti Malhotra, who was recently arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan, had attended an Iftar dinner at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi last year. In a video she posted, she is seen praising the event, requesting a visa, and interacting warmly with officials accused of espionage.
Jyoti Malhotra, the YouTuber behind the popular travel channel Travel With Jo, is under police custody after being arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan. Now, a video from last year has surfaced showing her at an Iftar dinner hosted at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
The video, posted on March 30, 2024, reveals her close ties with Pakistan High Commission officials — including Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a diplomat later expelled from India for espionage.
Warm Interactions with Expelled Diplomat
In the video, Malhotra greets Rahim warmly and praises the event’s arrangements. “I am mesmerised. I have no words,” she says. She also meets Rahim’s wife and invites the couple to her home in Hisar, Haryana, saying, “Come see the hospitality in our village.”
She refers to Rahim as someone she has met “three or four times” before. It is clear from the video that they shared a close and familiar relationship.
Repeated Visa Requests
Throughout the video, Malhotra repeatedly asks guests and officials for help in getting a visa to Pakistan. “Hopefully I will get a visa, we’ll go together,” she tells another guest. She even jokes with Chinese officials at the event, asking them to “give me visa!”
She also identifies another Pakistani official in the video and says he usually handles her phone and entry each time she visits the High Commission.
Arrest and Confession
Malhotra was arrested earlier this month from Hisar. Investigators say she made at least two visits to Pakistan, where she allegedly met with Pakistani intelligence officials and continued sharing sensitive information after returning to India.
Sources revealed she was in regular contact with handlers via encrypted apps like WhatsApp and Telegram. She reportedly shared details about Indian Army movements and other sensitive data.
Officials said she confessed to these activities during interrogation.
Police Custody Ordered
On Saturday, Malhotra was produced in court and remanded to five days in police custody. Authorities believe she is part of a larger espionage network operating across Haryana and Punjab.
Her video, once seen as a harmless vlog, is now viewed as evidence of deeper links with foreign agents and efforts to build influence and trust over time.
