New Delhi: AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar has denied reports that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will seek a Rajya Sabha seat. She called the claims “absolutely wrong.”
“Arvind Kejriwal is not going to Rajya Sabha. Earlier, media reports said he would become Punjab CM. Now, they say he will contest for Rajya Sabha. Both are wrong,” Kakkar said.
Speculation started when AAP nominated Rajya Sabha MP Sanjiv Arora for the Ludhiana West by-election. Some believed Kejriwal would take Arora’s seat in the upper house.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal has accused the BJP of removing BR Ambedkar’s photo from government offices. He said the BJP had hurt millions of Ambedkar’s followers by replacing his picture with that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a post on X, Kejriwal wrote, “The new BJP government of Delhi removed Babasaheb’s photo and put up PM Modi’s photo. This is not right. Please do not remove Ambedkar’s photo.”
AAP staged a protest outside the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday, holding Ambedkar’s photo. During the protest, Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended 21 AAP MLAs until February 28. He also announced the formation of a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) with members from both the ruling and opposition parties.
The Delhi Assembly also witnessed a heated debate as the BJP government presented the CAG report on the Delhi Excise Policy.
