New Delhi: The Delhi Police has registered an FIR against AAP national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Other party leaders, including former MLA Gulab Singh and ex-councillor Nitika Sharma, are also named in the case.
The case is related to the alleged illegal placement of hoardings and banners in Dwarka. The FIR was filed following a court order based on a complaint by Shiv Kumar Saxena.
Mr Saxena submitted visual proof showing AAP posters on public property. The court took serious note of the issue, stating that such hoardings damage the city’s appearance and pose safety risks.
On March 11, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Mittal directed the police to act. The case falls under Section 3 of the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007.
The matter dates back to 2019 when accusations of misusing public funds for banners were raised. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for April 18 at Rouse Avenue Court.
AAP has not issued a statement yet, but opposition parties have started attacking the party over the allegations.
