Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued a severe heatwave warning for 89 mandals across the state on Friday.
Managing Director R. Kurmanadh urged residents to take precautions as temperatures are expected to rise above normal levels.
The affected districts include Srikakulam (14 mandals), Vizianagaram (22), Parvathipuram Manyam (12), Alluri Sitarama Raju (9), Anakapalli (9), Kakinada (7), East Godavari (8), Eluru (5), and NTR (3).
On Thursday, the highest temperature was recorded at 42.4°C in Nandanamarella, Prakasam district. Kommalapadu in Nellore saw 42.2°C, while Vontimitta in YSR Kadapa recorded 42.1°C.
Over 105 mandals reported temperatures above 40°C. Authorities have advised people to stay hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure.
