New Delhi: The government has approved an additional Rs 6,000 crore for BSNL’s 4G expansion. This funding will help deploy around 1 lakh 4G sites across the country.
BSNL and MTNL have been working together to improve 4G services. MTNL, which operates in Delhi and Mumbai, signed a 10-year deal with BSNL to enhance its network.
The Cabinet discussed the funding last Friday. Though it was not officially announced, sources confirm that it has been approved.
BSNL needed this extra amount to complete its Rs 19,000 crore project. The company had already spent Rs 13,000 crore and sought help from the Department of Telecommunications. The DoT then forwarded the proposal to the Cabinet.
Since 2019, the government has invested Rs 3.22 lakh crore in BSNL and MTNL through three revival packages.
This latest boost will help both companies strengthen their networks and provide better services to customers.
