New Delhi/Washington: India and the United States have pledged to strengthen their partnership by promoting legal mobility for students and professionals while cracking down on illegal immigration.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, in a joint statement, highlighted the contributions of over 300,000 Indian students in the US. These students contribute more than $8 billion annually to the US economy and help create jobs.
Both leaders emphasized the need for a secure and structured framework to ease travel for students, professionals, tourists, and business visitors. They also vowed to enhance academic collaborations through dual-degree programs, offshore campuses, and Centers of Excellence.
On security matters, India and the US committed to taking strong action against illegal immigration networks, human traffickers, and criminal syndicates. They agreed to work together to ensure the safety and sovereignty of both nations.
Modi and Trump reaffirmed their vision of a strong India-US partnership that benefits people in both countries and contributes to global stability.
