India’s swift and powerful response to terror draws global attention
New Delhi: India’s Operation Sindoor has earned praise from a top American urban warfare expert, who said the mission showed India’s military strength. Colonel (Retd) John Spencer, a leading expert from the Modern War Institute, said the operation proved that India can strike “anywhere in Pakistan, anytime.”
In an interview with India Today, Spencer said India showed both offensive and defensive superiority. He added that India sent a strong message to its neighbours and the world — that it will act firmly against terror.
BrahMos Missile Breaks Through Defences
According to Spencer, the BrahMos missile played a key role in the mission. He said it easily broke through the Chinese-made air defence systems used by Pakistan.
“India’s BrahMos missile was able to penetrate both Chinese and Pakistani air defences,” Spencer said. “This shows India’s advanced military power.”
India used BrahMos missiles to strike 11 air bases in Pakistan on May 10. These strikes came after Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks on Indian military targets.
India Responded with Precision
Operation Sindoor began on May 7. India targeted terror camps deep inside Pakistan. The Indian forces bypassed and jammed Pakistan’s air defences to carry out the strikes.
“India successfully defended itself and responded with precision,” Spencer noted. “It stopped Pakistani drones and high-speed missiles.”
Heavy Costs for Pakistan
Spencer called Operation Sindoor an “inflection point in the war on terror.” He said the strikes imposed major costs on Pakistan’s army.
“India’s message was clear: It doesn’t want war, but it will punish terror without escalating conflict,” he said.
A Model for Future Anti-Terror Operations
Spencer also praised India’s media strategy during the operation. He said India shared satellite images and proof of its actions, allowing the world to verify the facts.
“This operation will be studied by future military leaders,” he said. “Other countries fighting terror can learn from India’s example.”
Time to Call Out Pakistan on Terror
Spencer urged the West to stop balancing both sides and to call out Pakistan for its support of terrorism.
He also supported India’s move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan. “It’s a smart step,” he said. “It will make Pakistan rethink its terror support.”
Operation Sindoor was India’s bold response to terror. It showed the strength of Indian forces and the power of weapons like the BrahMos missile. Global experts now see India as a leader in modern counter-terror warfare.
