New Delhi: Infosys is laying off 400 trainees at its Mysuru campus. The trainees failed internal tests three times in a row.
These trainees were onboarded in October 2024 after waiting for over two years. The delay happened due to a slowdown in the IT sector.
Infosys follows a strict hiring process. Freshers must clear internal tests after training. They get three attempts to pass. If they fail, they cannot continue at Infosys. This policy has been in place for over 20 years.
Trainees are being called in batches of 50. They are asked to sign “mutual separation” letters. Some trainees feel the tests were too difficult. A few even fainted due to stress.
Security personnel were present at the site. Sources claimed bouncers were deployed, but Infosys denied this.
The trainees were asked to leave by 6 PM.
Employee union NITES is taking action. It plans to file a complaint with the Labour Ministry.
Infosys had delayed hiring these trainees since 2022. The IT industry is struggling due to a global slowdown. Companies have reduced hiring and spending.
Infosys recently sent joining letters to 1,000 freshers from the 2022 batch. The industry is still uncertain about future hiring trends.
