Bhubaneswar: The 11th edition of the Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF) ended on a high note, cementing its place as one of South Asia’s premier literary gatherings. The festival featured over 100 sessions and 400 speakers, bringing together writers, poets, journalists, policymakers, and book lovers.
A Platform for Literature and Culture
The festival hosted discussions on literature, arts, cinema, geopolitics, and culture. Participants from India and abroad engaged in thought-provoking conversations.
Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao delivered the valedictory speech. He highlighted the importance of literature in shaping society and strengthening cultural ties between Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
KLF 2025: Expanding Beyond Borders
This year, Indonesia was the official Country Partner, marking KLF’s growing international presence. The festival also welcomed Nepalese and Sri Lankan delegations, further strengthening literary connections across South Asia.
KLF has now announced new editions in Colombo, Bali, and Bhutan, in addition to Kathmandu. These international events aim to promote cross-border literary collaborations and revive historical cultural links.
KLF’s Growing Influence
KLF CEO Ashok Kumar Bal called the festival a “global cultural movement”, emphasizing its role in fostering literary and intellectual exchanges.
Festival Director Rashmi Ranjan Parida said KLF’s mission is to bring global literature to India and showcase Indian literature to the world.
Awards and Future Plans
The festival concluded with awards for emerging literary talents and discussions on cinema, arts, and regional culture.
The 12th Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF 2026) will be held from January 8 to 11, 2026, at Mayfair, Bhubaneswar.
