New Delhi: Devotees across India celebrated the third day of Chaitra Navratri with great devotion and enthusiasm. Temples were filled with worshippers seeking blessings from Mata Chandraghanta, the third form of Goddess Durga.
PM Modi and CM Yogi Extend Greetings
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the nation, saying, “Worshiping Goddess Maa on Navratri fills the mind with immense peace.” He also shared a soulful bhajan by the late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, dedicated to the Goddess.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended his wishes. He prayed that Mata Chandraghanta blesses the people with peace and prosperity.
Massive Devotee Gatherings Across India
Temples across the country saw huge crowds from early morning.
In Delhi, large gatherings were seen at Jhandewalan Temple and Kalkaji Temple, where devotees offered prayers and attended the morning aarti.
In Ayodhya, thousands visited the Ram Temple and Hanuman Garhi to seek blessings.
The Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Katra witnessed an influx of pilgrims. Authorities ensured strict safety and security measures for the devotees.
Significance of Mata Chandraghanta
On the third day of Navratri, Goddess Durga is worshipped as Mata Chandraghanta. She has ten arms, each holding a weapon or a lotus flower, and a half-moon on her forehead. She is believed to bring peace, strength, and courage to her devotees.
Navratri Celebrations Continue
Navratri, meaning “nine nights”, is a festival dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine avatars (Navdurga). It is celebrated with prayers, fasting, and temple visits across the country.
With grand celebrations on the third day, devotees now look forward to worshiping the next form of Goddess Durga in the coming days.
