Bhubaneswar: Odisha-based deep-tech aerial mobility startup *BonV Aero* has secured an investment commitment from *Unicorn India Ventures, a technology-focused venture fund. The announcement was made during the **Utkarsh Odisha Conclave 2025*, highlighting the state’s growing focus on emerging technologies and innovation-driven industries.
BonV Aero specializes in designing and manufacturing *heavy-lift transport-class aerial mobility platforms* for unmanned aerial logistics, particularly suited for *Himalayan terrains. The company had previously raised funding from US venture capitalist **Tim Draper*, known for backing global tech giants like Tesla and Microsoft. However, the latest investment amount and the startup’s valuation remain undisclosed.
Speaking on the development, *Bhaskar Majumdar, Founder and Managing Partner of Unicorn India Ventures, emphasized their ongoing collaboration with **Startup Odisha* over the past four years. “We have made three investments across diverse industries in Odisha. We are committed to investing *₹80 crore to ₹100 crore* in the state over the next couple of years,” he said.
BonV Aero’s *Founder and CEO, Satyabrata Satpathy, outlined the company’s vision for growth, stating that the investment will accelerate research and development, enhance production capabilities, and foster collaborations with industry stakeholders. “This funding will help advance research in **electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL)* and *autonomous drone technologies* for applications in *defence, logistics, and emergency response*,” he added.
A senior official from the *MSME department* noted that the proposed investment underscores Odisha’s increasing prominence in the *deep-tech sector*, reinforcing its potential as a hub for cutting-edge technological innovation.
With the support of leading venture capital firms and the state government, *BonV Aero’s advancements in aerial mobility solutions* are poised to revolutionize logistics and defence applications in *challenging terrains*.
